PP – chemical-resistant material for 3D printing
PP (polypropylene) is one of the most established technical plastic materials in the industry and is also available for 3D printing in powder-based production. The material combines low weight, very high chemical resistance, and good flexibility, making it well-suited for functional end products and series production.
PP is used especially in applications where components are exposed to chemicals, moisture, mechanical movement or varying operating environments where stable function over time is crucial.

Properties of Polypropylene
- Very high chemical resistance
- Low density – very light material
- Excellent flexibility and shock resistance
- Good resistance to fatigue under repeated loading
- Low moisture absorption
- Good crack resistance
- Good electrical insulating properties
- Low friction and good sliding properties against other materials
- God vibration damping
PP is primarily characterised by its exceptional resistance to chemicals, including acids, bases, and many solvents. The material is affected very little by moisture, making it stable even in damp or variable environments.
Thanks to its combination of flexibility and fatigue resistance, PP performs well in applications with repeated bending, movement or vibrations. Its low friction also makes it suitable for sliding or moving components.
Industrial, chemical and technical applications
PP is widely used in industrial manufacturing where chemical resistance, low weight, and operational reliability are crucial. The material is suitable for enclosures, technical components, installation parts, pipe system-related details, fixtures, and functional mechanical parts.
Within the chemical industry and laboratory environments, PP is often used for components that come into contact with aggressive liquids, where a long service life and stable material performance are required. The material's low moisture absorption also makes it suitable in environments with high humidity or condensation.
PP is also used in applications where electrical insulation is important, for example in casings and protective structures in technical systems.
Thanks to its low weight and good strength-to-density ratio, PP is also used in weight-optimised constructions where every gram counts, for example in machine components and moving systems.
Advantages of PP in 3D printing
PA11 enables the production of functional end-use parts with industrial quality. The material is suitable for complex geometries that are otherwise difficult or impossible to manufacture using traditional methods.
Furthermore, PA11 offers high repeatability and stable material properties, which are crucial for series production and industrial applications.
